Lets say you are at your Job and you do good work, work well with others and go out of your way to learn more about improving yourself and your job. Well because you work hard and sacrifice you are rewarded with a pay raise and some additional benefits. Well one day a new boss comes in and says there will be no difference in pay or benefits because it wouldn't be fair. Do you think it is fair that your coworkers who show up to work late, turns in work late and generally does nothing to improve their bearings in life should be paid the same as someone who is willing to go above and beyond the call of duty?
What would you do if this happen to you? How would you react?
Now lets apply this to school. Lets say you studied 24-7 and worked hard to get a 4.0 average and you had a job and extracurricular activities on your college transcript. You have sacrificed a social life, love life and even family has yet to see you this year. Now lets say you had a roommate who partied all the time, never studied, went home on a regular basis and didn't even have a job and she was barely passing with a 2.0. Well would it be fair if the Dean stripped you of your 4.0 and then gave both you and your roommate a 3.0.
Would you consider this fair? Shouldn't helping those who are less fortunate then you apply to all situations? What are your thoughts?
